Qatar is forecast to spend more than $200 billion on construction in the next decade and much of the money is going towards preparations for the World Cup.
From ports to highways to billion dollar stadiums, Qatar plans to spend an average of over 10 per cent of its national output annually on building
infrastructure as it prepares to host the World Cup in 2022. FIFA ruled in February that Qatar can hold the tournament in the winter to avoid summer temperatures that can top 50 degrees C.
