The Hotel Show Saudi Arabia 2015 opens in Jeddah

undefinedSaudi Arabia’s tourism revenue is expected to reach a whopping $65bn by 2020 and its hospitality sector is forecast to be worth $93bn in the next five years.

According to the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), 149 new hotels will be completed across Saudi Arabia in 2015 and more than 77 per cent of the hospitality investment in the kingdom is in the two holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

Unprecedented growth of Saudi hotel sector has led thousands of key decision-makers to the 3rd annual The Hotel Show Saudi Arabia 2015, inaugurated by His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, Chairman of the Tourism Committee yesterday.

Christine Davidson, The Hotel Show exhibition director at dmg events said: “We are honoured to have had His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, open the 2015 event and take the time to tour the exhibition.

“Saudi Arabia’s hospitality industry is experiencing extraordinary growth with recent industry reports forecasting 16,000 new hotel rooms in Riyadh and Jeddah by 2018, and a 400% increase in domestic tourism by 2019. undefinedExhibitors from 20 countries worldwide are showcasing latest products and services from the hotel sector, including LG Electronics which is launching new products at this year’s event.

Attendees also include executives from hospitality leaders such as the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Pascal Gauvin, Chief Operating Officer of India, Middle East & Africa at IHG said: “Saudi Arabia has been one of our strongest markets and a key focus for us within the region since we entered 40 years ago.”

Additionally, The Hotel Show Saudi Arabia’s first Vision Conference was opened by Grant Salter, Head of Travel, Hospitality and Leisure at Deloitte. It offers direct access to global experts including Samsung, Deloitte and AlKamal International to update the Saudi market on the latest industry trends.
