This is one of two agreements that the Authority signed with Gama Support Services at the airport. As per the second agreement Gama will provide ground handling services to business jet owners, business jets and crew members at the terminal, according to a statement by the Authority.
The entire projects will cover a total area of 40,000 sqm and comprise two private jet hangars and the terminal which will feature resting areas, lounges and duty free shops.
“This partnership is an important step in the process of developing the private aviation industry in the Emirate of Sharjah, by providing more exceptional facilities and services to jet owners who use their private jets to travel around the world,” said HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, according to the statement.
Richard Lineveldt, General Manager of Gama Support Services, was quoted adding: “During the last few years, the general aviation market has witnessed growth in the number of business jets and private aircraft owners, and we expect this to continue on the short and long terms. Since the launch of its operations at Sharjah International Airport in 2012, Gama Aviation has significantly expanded its customer base in the private aviation industry.”
Construction will begin on the completion of designs, studies and on obtaining all necessary official approvals, the Authority has informed.
