Construction of Uptown Dubai in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) is proceeding at pace with piling and raft works for the first super tall tower complete.
Mast Piling & Foundations Contracting LLC (part of Spie Batignolles group) performed the Enabling Works package (excavation, dewatering, piling and shoring works) for phase 1a of DMCC Uptown Tower.
The company has excavated 87,000 cubic metres of soil and executed more than 5000 m² of shoring secant piles and 287 no bearing piles to support the tower and the podium that features a two-level central plaza to host F&B outlets, retail spaces and entertainment zones.
The raft foundation - comprising of 2,500 tons of steel and over 12,000 m3 of concrete - was poured over a continuous 46-hour operation by BIC (formerly HLG), said developer DMCC.
“DMCC is laser focused on delivering Uptown Dubai and the team has worked tirelessly to ensure that the critical foundations supporting the supertall tower were delivered on time and within budget.
“The announcement today shows the significant progress made towards what will become one of Dubai’s most vibrant destinations,” said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC.
Paul Ashton, Executive Director – Property, DMCC, added: “Completing the foundation is a key milestone for the supertall tower and the start of a very exciting journey. As the construction process rapidly moves forward, we will be announcing Uptown Dubai’s main contractor later this year.”
Earlier this year, DMCC appointed Rockwell Group, a New York based firm, as the Interior Designer for the supertall tower which will house luxury hotel rooms and suites, high-end restaurants, health spas, extensive conference facilities, grade A offices, and 237 branded residences.
DMCC partnered with Accor Hotels’ to bring their luxury lifestyle hotel brand, SO/, to the supertall tower – a first in the Middle East.
