Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Authority (DMCC) has appointed New York-based Rockwell Group as the lead interior architect for their first super tall project in Uptown Dubai.
The New York-based company will design the premium 5-Star hotel and branded residences, set for sale in early 2018.
Expected to be named later in the year, the tower will comprise a 5-star hotel and 237 branded luxury residences, restaurants, health spas and Grade A offices.
“We are excited to work with Rockwell Group to create a breath-taking experience with global appeal, and what will become one of Uptown Dubai’s two iconic super tall towers," said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman, DMCC, in a statement.
“Their global experience in bringing futuristic concepts and innovative designs to life will lift Uptown Dubai’s energetic vibe and design to new heights. It's an exciting time for design in Dubai.”
Construction on the mixed-use Uptown Dubai District, situated adjacent to Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) began in September 2017.
The district project is anchored by two iconic super tall towers designed by Chicago-based architects Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill.
The district will include seven towers comprising more than 200 retail and F&B outlets, and approximately 3,000 residences, a central entertainment plaza, as well as a number of luxury hotels.
A key feature of the project is its main podium, 28m above ground and expected to larger than Times Square in New York.
The firm was shortlisted among six global bidders during the tendering stage.
