Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded contracts for the construction of electricity transmission projects, worth AED 1.05bn.
Infrastructure will include a 400/132kV substations, two 132/11 kV substations, and 75km of 132kV ground cables, the utility announced.
DEWA will invest a total of AED 81bn over the next five years to keep pace with power demand and maintain a modern and efficient network.
There are currently 252 132/11kV substations, with 16 inaugurated in 2018. DEWA will add a further 85 over the next three years at a total value of AED 9bn, and 6 400/132kV substations worth AED 2.4bn.
