Majid Al Futtaim is making steady progress with excavation work for the first phase of its new flagship Dubai community, Tilal Al Ghaf.
The grading works cover around 1.1 million of the 3 million sqm site, including excavation for the community’s crystal lagoon, retail and leisure area, and site preparation for around 550 villas.
In total, contractors have excavated around 1.6 million cubic metres of rock and soil from the site, 1 million cubic metres of which has been reused as fill, creating level ground so construction can begin.
Hawazen Esber, CEO of Communities at Majid Al Futtaim - Properties, said: “The completion of Tilal Ghaf’s first phase earthworks ahead of schedule is a key milestone towards welcoming our first visitors and, ultimately, our first residents onsite to experience our mixed-use lifestyle offering.”
Majid Al Futtaim expects to invest AED 14bn ($3.8bn) in Tilal Al Ghaf over the next 10 years. The community will feature four neighbourhoods, each having its own unique character, with the Serenity and Harmony areas the first two offered as part of the launch phase.
In total the community will include more than 6,500 freehold homes, ranging from apartments, townhouses and bungalows, through to substantial luxury villas.
The first villas are scheduled to be delivered in 2020, while the scheme is set for completion in 2027.
