1. Opening Ceremony

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of Board of Executive Directors, Roads & Transport Authority, Dubai inaugurated the launch edition of The Big 5 Heavy on March 26. With over 300 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, The Big 5 Heavy is the largest event for heavy machinery and the infrastructure sector in the Middle East.

2. First UAE-manufactured tower crane by Bothani ENG

By end of June 2018, Bothani ENG will manufacture the first crane in the UAE. A joint venture between Bothani and ENG cranes, the partnership is set to bring Italian know-how and technology to the region. The completely hydraulic tower crane is displayed at The Big 5 Heavy as a preview. “The event is amazing, since the first day we received good offers for the dealership, and orders of tower cranes: we had 60 so far. 3. Concrete Printing Technology for the Year of Zayed

4. Al-Bahar and Caterpillar launch two new machines

6. Mega Tires!

Magna Tyres display the MA04 model coming in at 1400kg and 49 inches, designed specifically for 100-tonne mining dump trucks. 7. CIFA: lives 5 times longer

Presented by CIFA, the 42 m vertical Concrete Pump CIFA K42L comes with 160 cubic meters per hour capacity. Completely removable, the pumping group ensures a continuous and regular flow, reducing the number of cycles per minute and ensuring minor wear and a longer life cycle to the machine. 9. First Deal on-site

The first deal made on-site was between Saudi-based Sarmix, and Austrian Dorner Electronic represented in the region by Deewan Equipment, for a complete automation system to be used at Sarmix ready-mix factories. (Stand Z5 E40)

10. Dubai Municipality at The Big 5 Heavy

Dubai Municipality Building Department attends the event to roll out their new fast-track Branch Licensing initiative which offers a one-day commercial license process to applicants: “Traditionally, the branch licensing process would take some time, but by making it more convenient in line with Smart Dubai innovation we hope to welcome more skilled and forward-thinking professionals to the flourishing region,” says Maryam Hassan Ahli, Senior Consultants & Contractors Prequalification Engineer at Dubai Municipality Building Department.
