An important piece of infrastructure at Dubai’s Bluewaters Island is now in place ahead of the project's expected opening later this year.
Construction has been completed on the pedestrian bridge linking the island with Jumeirah Beach Residence.
KEO International Consultants’ Infrastructure division and its allied practice for master planning, urban design and landscape architecture, InSite, were involved in the delivery of the project along with contractor BESIX.
Working as the Engineer of Record, third party reviewer and landscape architects, KEO and InSite worked closely with BESIX to deliver the 77-metre box-girder bridge spanning the south entrance to Dubai Marina.
The total length of the pedestrian journey, from one end to the other is approximately 265 meters via the InSite designed boardwalk.
Palm tree shaded “seating nooks” with Iroko clad built-in seats, were also provided as rest areas on the bridge.
Work continues on Bluewaters Island, a mixed-use development that will be home to the world’s tallest observation wheel, Ain Dubai. The project is expected to open to the public later this year or in early 2019.
