Egis to oversee Etihad Rail expansion to 1,000km

May 27, 2018

undefinedEtihad Rail has awarded Egis with a project management contract for the next two stages of the UAE rail network.

Egis will oversee and supervise the different project contributors: the engineering consultant responsible for preliminary design and construction supervision, the future design-and-build contractors, and third parties.

The UAE rail network currently stretches to 264 km but will be expanded by over 600 km in Stage 2 and 250 km in Stage 3.

On completion in 2024, the network will link the country to Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Egis says the contract is part of its strategy to further develop in the Middle East and in the UAE in particular.

In Dubai, the company is providing design and construction engineering services for the automated transport system that will connect Bluewaters Island with the Dubai Metro
