Dubai-based Hitches & Glitches (H&G) will partner with Mindware to retail and install Nest Learning Thermostat, a smart home gadget throughout the UAE.
The home maintenance specialist, part of the Farnek Group, will market its technology via its re-launched online store, hitchesglitches.com
“This third-generation thermostat is at the very cutting edge of smart home technology and one of the most innovative products currently on the market,” said Lukas Eigenmann, COO, H&G.
“The Nest thermostat ultimately helps save energy and money by recording the optimum temperatures of the home and readjusting automatically.”
Users can connect the thermostat to Wi-Fi and change the temperature from a phone, tablet or laptop.
The gadget recognises an empty home and makes relevant adjustments to indoor temperature, and acts as a first line of defence against fire.
The device also produces a report outlining when energy was used and how best to avoid excess use.
Since its launch in the US, the Nest Learning Thermostat has been installed in 11 million homes around the world and helped to save more than 18bn kWh, according to research by the World Bank.
Demand has soared for smart home gadgets, as improved technology has made devices easier to use and more affordable, especially those with remote options for homeowners working away, travelling, on holiday or just at the office.
“Adding Nest’s state-of-the-art smart home gadget to our existing portfolio of Wi-Fi products, significantly broadens our overall offering.
“The ability to buy online with the convenience of installation, we can provide a seamless transaction, which we believe will be a highly attractive market proposition,” said Eigenmann.
