Iran has announced plans to start construction on two new nuclear power plants, an official has said.
Financial resources have been allocated for the construction of the projects, said Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, on Sunday.
The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has given the go-ahead for the construction of two nuclear plants in the country and that financial resources have been earmarked by the Presidential order, according to Iran’s news agency IRNA.
“We are going to set a date in the near future for the ground-breaking ceremony,” Kamalvandi said.
Both Iran and the United Nations Atomic Energy Organization are closely cooperating with each other to fulfil the requirements of the projects, he added.
