These projects are being planned in the Salalah and Sharqiayah regions and will be implemented by private developers on a build-own-operate basis, according to the Times of Oman.
The winning consultant will provide project management services during the construction, commissioning and testing phase of these two independent water projects. The last date for submitting the bid is March 26.
These are expected to substantially enhance availability of potable water in the country's southern and northern regions, said the report.
The Salalah plant is expected to start commercial operations in the third quarter of 2019, while Sharqiayah unit will take off in the second quarter of 2020, it added.
